Overview
Fourth community meeting of the Nobodies Collective Asociación (NCA). The meeting covered progress on external relations and asset procurement, a successful test of the lower-cost Ticket Taylor ticketing platform, the upcoming event name rank-choice poll, a call for community help with organizational design and decentralization, the Governance Working Group’s go/no-go information pack and community poll, legal clarifications on liability, a power team update, the Humans App launch, participant wellness and Code of Conduct progress, and financial risk mitigation planning.
Key Topics
External Relations Update (Pepe)
- Substantial progress on external discussions since the previous week
- Contracts currently under legal review
- In-person meetings with legal teams planned for the following week
- First draft of written communications expected the following day, with second versions over the weekend
- Goal: at least one contract signed by end of next week
Ticketing System Test (Pablo)
- Successful test of the Ticket Taylor platform as a ticketing solution
- Drastically lower fees — potentially saving the organization \$10,000 to \$15,000
- Test account set up with the tax ID; test purchase using Apple Pay successfully processed through Stripe
- Card and Google Pay payments also supported
Event Name Poll (Pablo)
- Not using the “Nowhere” name as the association does not have authorization to use it
- 25–30 name suggestions collected from the community
- Rank-choice poll coming in the next few days for members onboarded in the Humans app
- Members will choose their top three options from the list
Decentralization & Organizational Structure (Daniel)
- Emphasized the non-hierarchical, participatory nature of the event
- The board operates by consensus — every vote has been unanimous
- Board intends to eventually step back from operational executive input, retaining only sign-off and external-facing roles
- Warned about the danger of power concentration and burnout caused by bootstrapping pressure
- Called for volunteers interested in organizational design, transparency, and decentralization
- Ben D volunteered as first point of contact for anyone wishing to contribute ideas
Go/No-Go Decision Process (Julian, Kate, Ella)
- Governance Working Group conducted 33 interviews across 8 key areas over the past two weeks
- Findings summarized in an information pack sent by email to 168 registered association members
- Community poll open until 11:59 PM on Sunday night
- Poll is non-binding — results will inform the board’s final decision
- Tyche read a statement from Justin (Ubertown) raising concerns about the document’s neutrality, insufficient emphasis on existential risk, and the non-binding nature of the poll
- Kate explained that a binding General Assembly would take months to organize and was not feasible given time constraints
Legal Structure & Liability (Pepe)
- The association is a structurally distinct legal entity with its own management and no shareholders
- Under Spanish law, member liability is limited to financial contributions (i.e. the membership fee)
- Legal opinions on tax, data protection, and labour matters are being prepared
Power Team Update (Javi via audio)
- New power group of approximately six people formed, many with relevant technical experience
- First meeting scheduled for next week after reviewing job descriptions
- Having experienced members in the group will facilitate progress
Humans App (Ben D)
- Platform is now operational and serves as the official location for applications
- Current collaborators and members being migrated to the new platform
- Official criteria for voting membership finalized and to be posted on GitHub
- Community will have the opportunity to adjust criteria at the next General Assembly
Participant Wellness (Anna T)
- Focus shifting from exclusively event attendees to also covering collaborators and association members
- Updating the participant Code of Conduct — draft to be shared in the participant wellness Discord group on Saturday for community input
- Seeking anyone with mediation experience or interest to help create policies and provide support for disputes
Financial Risk & Refunds (Pepe)
- Three-fold plan to mitigate financial risk: minimize non-refundable vendor deposits, expand revenue streams, and creative fundraising
- Fundraising event confirmed for April 11
- Aim to minimize payments until required — not much comes due before May
Action Items
- Pablo — Send event name rank-choice poll in the next few days
- Pablo — Share ticketing information with whoever leads ticketing
- Ben — First point of contact for organizational design contributions
- Ben — Organize meetings for organizational design and coordination structures
- Anna — Share draft Code of Conduct in the participant wellness Discord group on Saturday
- Pepe — Share full legal opinions (tax, data protection, labor risk) as the scaffolding for new operations is built
